Perfect fit: How to measure your car and order the right size furniture

Step 1: Why is accurate measurement important?
A van's trunk isn't a perfect rectangle. The walls curve, the wheel arches take up space, and there may be anchor points in the floor that need to be taken into account. Accurate measurements ensure that:
- The modules you choose fit in the space reserved for them.
- Doors and hatches can open properly.
- The space should be utilized as efficiently as possible.
Step 2: Tools needed
You only need a few basic tools:
- Measuring tape: Make sure it is long enough.
- Notebook and pen: Draw a simple floor plan of your car's trunk.
- (Optional) Camera: Take pictures of the space and mark the dimensions directly on the pictures with your phone.
Step 3: What and how to measure?
Measure the following points and write them down for your floor plan:
- Floor length: Measure the longest dimension at floor level from the tailgate to behind the front seats.
- Floor width:
- Measure the widest point from wall to wall.
- Measure the narrowest point between the wheel arches. This is often the most critical measurement.
- Interior height: Measure the height from floor to ceiling in several places, as the roof may be curved. Note down the lowest measurement.
- Wheel arches: Measure their height, width, and depth.
- Door locations and dimensions: Measure the width and height of the side and rear door openings. Make sure that the furniture does not obstruct their use.
- Windows and other obstacles: Mark the location of windows, ventilation valves or other fixed structures on the floor plan.
Pro tip: Measure everything at least twice! The old rule "measure twice, cut once" also applies here - "measure twice, order once".
Step 4: Verify the correct size and order
Once you have your measurements, it's time to go to our website.
- Compare your measurements with the product information: The exact external dimensions (width, depth, height) are listed on each of our product pages. Compare these measurements with the measurements you took from your car and your floor plan.
- Plan the layout: Use the drawing as a guide and arrange how the different modules would fit in the space of your car. Will they fit one after the other? Is there enough space between them?
- Check compatibility lists: We may maintain a list of the most common van models on our website that our furniture has been tested and installed in. Check to see if your car is on the list.
Not sure? We'll help!
