Perfect Fit: How to Measure Your Vehicle and Order the Right-Sized Furniture

The idea behind our modular furniture is simple: they are designed to fit a wide range of different vans. However, since every car model and year is slightly different, taking the correct measurements is the most important step towards your dream camper van. Don't worry, it's easier than you think! With this guide, you are sure to succeed.

Step 1: Why is accurate measuring important?

A van's cargo space is not a perfect rectangle. Walls curve, wheel arches take up space, and there may be mounting points on the floor that need to be considered. Accurate measurements ensure that:

  • The modules you choose fit into their allocated space.
  • Doors and hatches can open properly.
  • The space is utilized as efficiently as possible.

Step 2: Tools you'll need

You only need a few basic tools:

  • Tape measure: Make sure it's long enough.
  • Notebook and pen: Draw a simple floor plan of your car's cargo space.
  • (Optional) Camera: Take photos of the space and mark the measurements directly on the images with your phone.

Step 3: What and how to measure?

Measure the following points and record them on your floor plan:

  1. Floor length: Measure the longest length at floor level from the tailgate to behind the front seats.
  2. Floor width:
  3. Measure the widest point from wall to wall.
  4. Measure the narrowest point between the wheel arches. This is often the most critical measurement.
  5. Interior height: Measure the height from floor to ceiling at several points, as the ceiling may be curved. Note the lowest measurement.
  6. Wheel arches: Measure their height, width, and depth.
  7. Door locations and dimensions: Measure the width and height of the side and rear door openings. Ensure that the furniture does not obstruct their use.
  8. Windows and other obstacles: Mark the locations of windows, ventilation vents, or other fixed structures on the floor plan.

Pro tip: Measure everything at least twice! The old rule "measure twice, cut once" also applies here – "measure twice, order once".

Step 4: Confirming the correct size and ordering

Once the measurements are clear, it's time to visit our website.

  • Compare your measurements with product information: The exact external dimensions (width, depth, height) of each of our products are listed on its page. Compare these measurements with the measurements you took from your car and your floor plan.
  • Plan the layout: Use your drawing to help you arrange how different modules would be placed in your car's space. Do they fit consecutively? Is there enough passage space left?
  • Check compatibility lists: We may maintain a list on our website of the most common van models in which our furniture has been tested and installed. Check if your car is on the list.
